Restoration Project Of The Historical Redif Building

The Redif Office was built in 1863 by Hasan Pasha, the governor of Izmit. It is a semi-masonry barracks type building designed in the 2nd Emperial style. It is noteworthy that the ceilings of the Redif Office, one of Izmit's military structures built for redif officers in the Ottoman Empire, contain painting resembling hand drawings. The Redif Office was used as a military court building until the earthquake of 1999. This structure, which was in use by the Ministry of Defense, was damaged in the 1999 earthquake. Strengthening design using steel and carbon fiber was developed by OTS within the scope of restoration.
